Manish Malhota Off the Shoulder

If you kept a close eye on the runway you'll have seen everything you need to wear to be on trend this summer. Sure, you’d think, ‘hey, it’s summer, I’ll wear some flowers and bright colours, and I’ll be fine!” But there’s so much more to it! And we've done the hard work for you, breaking down the hottest trends spotted on the Lakmé Fashion Week and Amazon India Fashion Week S/S16 runways – so you know what’s in and how to wear it.

1. Cold-Shoulders

High street, wedding or catwalk. The off-shoulder or 'cold-shoulder' is easily the hottest trend this season. Not only are all the celebrities wearing it, they picked it right off the runway from Manish Malhotra and Anushree Reddy to Shivan & Narresh and Neeta Lulla.

2. Layered Whites

One colour that’s always synonymous with summer is white. And you can trust that it looks even better layered on. Check out Aiman, Anita Dongre, 11:11 and Rohit Bal for styling tips.

3. Summer Metallics

What seems like it would be a winter trend has seeped its way into spring. Designers showcased metallic fabrics in pretty much all the colours of the rainbow and yes, they’re all seasonally wearable.

5. Floral Embroidery

Florals? For spring? Cliché, but necessary. A spring/summer wardrobe would be incomplete without a sprinkling of floral embroideries for your Indian as well as fusion-wear.

6. All kinds of sleeves

Caped sleeves, bat sleeves, kimono sleeves – you name it and we spotted it. Everyone from Wendell Rodricks and Huemn to Archana Rao and Debarun mixed it up with their sleeves and we can’t get enough!

7. Sheer & Sexy

A sheer panel instantly adds some sexiness to an outfit. For summer, it’s cool (literally) as well as high on style. Designers Monisha Jaising, Archana Rao and Sanchita definitely thought so.

Striped trousers, blouses, dresses and tees – no matter where you add them, they’re hot right now - even striped sarees! If you’re bold enough, you could even try some stripe on stripe.

10. Words That Work

Why say it when you can wear it, right? This season, designers put everything from titles, motivational quotes and just words in general on their clothes and hey, it totally works!
