Style, glamour, fashion and beauty descended upon the city of Mumbai as the Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards kick started the autumn/ winter film season. Hosted by Neha Dhupia, Bollywood’s fashionistas sashayed down the red carpet to see who among them would be awarded the most stylish. We picked our favourite looks from this fashion extravaganza, just for you.
The dramatic volume and length of Sonam Kapoor’s Michael Cinco gown was only enhanced by its glowing cherry hue. This glamorous offering was one of our favourites of the night. Bagging two awards sure came as no surprise to the reigning queen of fashion in Bollywood, a fashion icon for decades to come we imagine.
Our fashion favourite won the ‘Most Stylish Star (Female)’ as well as the 'Absolut Elyx Style & Substance' award.
The Sri Lankan beauty turned things up several notches by going uber glam for the gala. Dripping in crystals, Jacqy’s trail swept the red carpet resembling a waterfall of sorts while showing off her enviable legs. Shady Zeineldine, the designer couldn’t have had a more beautiful muse for this ravishing number! Kudos to her stylist on her dewy makeup and fuss-free sleek hairdo, creating a wonderful balance.
Nostalgia has a way of making everything more beautiful. Ask any actress today which actress from their childhood they admire most and invariably their answer will be Rekha. Sticking to her roots, the ethereal beauty shone in a copper toned saree with maroon accents. Perhaps a contrasting blouse would’ve complimented these 9 yards better? In any case we were more enamoured by the styling which included her trademark blood red lips, sleek black bun, chunky, traditional jewellery accompanied by an ethnic circle clutch. 'The Timeless Style and Glamour' award couldn’t have been more deserving!
The actress never fails to step up to the fashion plate in curve-hugging designs and saturated bold colors that complement her milky complexion and hourglass bod. More Monroe and less Moss, Sonakshi looked positively radiant in this Monisha Jaising, scarlet gown.
Our 'Asli Sona' firmly deserves to win 'Fashion Reinvention Of The Year'
We’ve been somewhat captivated by budding starlet Athiya Shetty’s style of late and this Amanda Wakely dress is no exception. The slender silhouette, luminous thread-work and translucent inserts highlighted by her flaming red pout, all make this a perfect 10 for us.
You sure deserved the ‘Fashion Debut of the Year’ award girl!
The dimpled actress served up contemporary elegance wearing a monochrome Georges Chakra gown. Linear lines offset by scribbled splashes on the bottom create quite the illusion. Alluring in a chic way, when done right this is the kind of glamour we adore.
Winning the award of ‘Trendsetter Of The Year’, Alia proves that she’s more than just a girl next door.
Dia Mirza looked effortlessly elegant in a petal hued Khushali Kumar gown, sticking to her signature classic, feminine style. The angel-faced beauty stuck to subtle tones that complimented her ‘Just Married’ glow. Even though she didn't win an award, she continually proves that playing safe can be a good thing indeed!
We couldn’t stop ourselves from mentioning our favourite male fashionista – Ranveer Singh - for obvious reasons! Often termed as outrageous and other times a successful fashion risk-taker, the man has his own individualistic style that cannot be rivalled. Who knew geeky glasses and sandals would serve as the perfect accompaniment to a long tailed suit. Ranveer never fails to surprise us with his quirky, erratic and often OTT style and the critics think so too as he bagged the 'Most Stylish Star of the Year' award.
