Ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time of the year again - we've just experienced Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 16. From Varun Bahl to Gauri & Nainika, Gaurav Gupta to the Grand Finale - A/W16 didn't disappoint! Every time fashion month rolls around, in India you have not one, but two weeks of great style, trends and all around fabulousness. Lakmé Fashion Week in Mumbai and Amazon India Fashion Week in New Delhi are the pioneers of style, the dictators of taste in the country and ultimately around the world, and our wardrobe choices for the seasons to come depends on what we see at their shows. As AIFW Autumn/ Winter 2016 comes to a close today, we’ve picked out 10 outfits you’ll love to see, wear and talk about. Take a look…
A modern look with that retro flair, Hemant & Nandita’s creations came with shimmering jacquard and embroidered separates – all ready to be layered, worn and mixed and matched.
One of our favorite VIVA-LUXE Designers, she’s all about sustainability and her creations could last you a lifetime without going out of style. Functional to boot, Anita Dongre’s trousers, tops and accompanying jackets are going to be every working girl’s favorites.
Your wardrobe would be empty without a saree and Malini Ramani’s autumn winter collection has the perfect ones! Sexy as always, her pale palettes and minimal embroidery gave out that effortless glam vibe we all crave for.
If you’re attending an upcoming wedding, Nikasha has the outfits you need. Dhoti pants with Kedia tops and a gorgeous red, embellished jacket – you won’t look like the bride, but everyone’s eyes will definitely be on you.
Androgyny at its best, Pankaj & Nidhi’s collection found inspiration in military uniforms. Complete with rope embellishments, shoulder straps, badges and medals – the outfit definitely spells ‘Don’t mess with me’.
The saree of the future was spotted in Rimzim Dadu’s collection. Made with wire and metal, confidence is definitely the key if you’re daring enough to try this one.
Her entire collection came in block silks and fabrics of intense depth and sheen. Take its gorgeous silk and cut away saree that we can't take our eyes off. Aqua, mauve and oatmeal dominated the range and whilst the design was understated the bold swathes of fabric make a real styles statement.
A big theme at AIFW was every day work wear. With designers like Bodice and Dolly J leading the way. Taking everyday work wear to a more brunch/lunch friendly space was ILK’s #DotOnAWalk range. Pieces with the visual illusion of florals made up of tiny dots and embroidery on dresses, saress and jackets alike – these would be great pieces to attend a day time function where you want to stand out without looking over dressed.
High on shine, sex appeal and straight up drama, Namrata Joshipura’s creations are definitely made for the ballsy lot. If the mostly sheer gown featuring a plunging neckline doesn’t inspire you to hit the gym, we don’t know what will!
10. Valliyan by Nitya Arora
A great outfit calls for some gorgeous accessories, which brings us to what Valliyan had to offer. Her bigger-than-your-face maang-tikkas will definitely make a statement – just make sure you’re not wearing any other jewellery with it.
